The Rundown
What happens every week?
Every week, participants receive a Google Meets link scheduled for a specific date and time hosted by one of our team members. When the time comes, begin chatting and connecting.
Generally, our meetings are thirty minutes long.
Introductions (3 min)Take a few seconds to introduce yourself to others and listen as they introduce themselves.
2Icebreakers (5 min)Play a simple game to help everyone be more comfortable and relaxed.
3Discuss one of the topics below (22 min)We talk about a topic the group has shown an interest in and try to get everyone involved.

We'll have a chat around one of these themes. You can be as candid or reserved as you wish.
- Your travel plans after the border reopens.
- A great movie or TV series you would like to share.
- If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?
- What is the greatest accomplishment of your life?
- Is there something you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time? Why haven’t you done it?
After the video session.
You can ask us to help you exchange contact details with someone, or change to a different session. We're easy! Just let us know what you're after.

Your privacy is super important to us. That's why we chose Zoom so you can chat with others while keeping your email and contact details to yourself.
Short meetings (1/2 hour) →
We don't want to waste your time. Our virtual meetings only take 30 minutes. That's long enough to chat with a bunch of people yet short enough not to consume your entire evening.
Small group →
More than enough people to stop it from becoming awkward really quickly, but large enough to choose someone from.
Be yourself →
If you're comfortable in your pyjamas, slippers, and dishevelled hair, stay casual. That's awesome.
Who are we
A friendly host to guide your conversation.
Our hosts help to make you feel welcome and keep meetings on topic (and short). We believe that a little bit of gentle moderation helps to facilitate constructive and open discussion that lets everyone feel comfortable expressing themselves. It's perfect for introverts.
Dealing with loneliness
Why is our focus online?
Loneliness has quickly become an epidemic. Many organizations approach this problem in a plethora of ways. We're think online meetings are a good approach for the following reasons.
Our circle of relationships is shrinking.
In our modern life, sometimes you can be immersed in your routine for days or weeks without meeting new people outside of your immediate circle.
Given the right circumstances online, it's possible to meet and become friends with people in different timezones, cities, and countries, and professions and be going through similar experiences that you can relate to.
You are more than your Profile Picture.
In the focus on instant-gratification, your profile picture takes up center focus and your personality sits on the sidelines. Video chats are an honest way to get to know others more than from a photo swipe or brief character description.
Having close friends is more important to your happiness than being rich.
Human relationships are extremely important for your happiness and wellbeing. Not only is loneliness a negative emotion, it's measurably detrimental to your physical health.

How Do I Get Started?
Fill out our Google Form, which asks basic details, and let us know when you're available in New Zealand Time (GMT +12).
Your details will be kept private. They will not be sold, spammed, or used for any other purpose other than for virtual meetings.
Once a bunch of people are interested, we'll match you into groups based on your preferences and send an email invite to a Google Meets room (Everyone knows how to join an online meeting now!) at a date and time that you have indicated your availability.
How old do I need to be?
We welcome people of all ages as long as you are over 18, or the legal limit in your country. Regardless of your age, we will try and set you up in a group with people who we think you will get along well with.
Is there a cost?
No, we don't ask for any payment and provide our service for free as we trial this new form of dating, but in the future we may add payment options.
Do I have to share my name?
No, you don't need to share any of your details if you don't want to. We don't share any of the information we have received from you unless you have explicitly asked us to.
Do I have to speak english?
Currently, we only hold meetings in English. However, if this is something you're interested in, let us know and we'll try to work something out.
Does my camera need to be on?
We want to facilitate honest heart to heart conversation between people. This is difficult if your camera is off.
Do you have a Discord server or Slack channel?
Ideas for an online community are on the backburner, and we'll take a serious look at them in the future. In the meantime, if this is something you're interested in let us know your thoughts.
